About Bede the Venerable
Bede the Venerable (c. 672/673–735). Born in Northumbria, he was put under the care of Benedictine monks at the age of seven and received a broad classical education in the monastic tradition. Considered one of the most learned men of his age, he is the author of An Ecclesiastical History of the English People.
